Some people are born to be in the spotlight. Others are born to fight their way into the spotlight. And then there are people born into the spotlight. Trying to make your way out of the darkness that is the unknown future may seem a difficult feat for those who don’t know where they’re going, but those who are lucky enough to have a predetermined path laid before them seem to take it with no questions.

However, for Jansen Panettiere, his eyes wish to remain in the dark, choosing to forge his own path, no matter how long it takes to find his own light.

“It’s diversifying my investments enough where I can continue my lineage, and it’s not precarious on outside elements to be successful,” said Panettiere, 20, who’s no stranger to the pressure that encompasses carrying on the family business.

Growing up with a life that revolved around Hollywood, alongside his 25-year-old sister, actress, model, singer, and activist, Hayden Panettiere, Jansen Panettiere’s childhood was far from ordinary. Seeing the success of his sister as he grew older served both as a pedestal to strive to be atop of, and motivation to expand his horizons beyond what he’s known his whole life.

“I want to do it all,” he said. “I’m kind of Renaissance man in the sense that if I do one thing, I’m going to get very bored.”

And thus, Abstract Charms came to fruition. Launched in 2014, this line consists of handmade jewelry and accessories that compensate for the growing popularity and demand in diverse indie styles found at music festivals nowadays, with big players in this industry actually being spotted wearing these unique pieces at Coachella this year.

Panettiere won’t take all the credit, though, placing emphasis on the large number of people he has backing him up in his life.

“I own it. Yeah, sure. But my homie designs it,” he says with a casual tone like anyone his age would, but with modesty beyond his time. “I couldn’t do it, but part of being a business man is finding those people that can do it.”

So with his business on the rise, a bank of endless ideas, and having wrapped up on another movie to place under his belt, what’s next for this blossoming entrepreneur?

“I’m as scared shitless as any other kid out there,” says Panettiere with a chuckle. “[But] I’m a man that just wants to live as big as possible and as well as possible, literally trying to heal the Earth a little bit more.”
